Yukata Kimono
When men wear a kimono, it is often at weddings or other very formal occasions. Professional sumo wrestlers are often seen in kimono because they are required to wear traditional Japanese dress whenever appearing in public. They usually wear the kind of casual Japanese attire called yukata, which is made of plain unlined cotton.
Unlike more elaborate kimono which requires assistance to be put on, the yukata can be managed easily by the wearer. Although men`s kimono are cut differently and typically in subdued or dark colors, sumo wrestlers have occasionally chosen to wear bright colors.
